3 Wednesdays, April 9 - 23, 1:00 - 3:00 pm Adventures in Collage Taught by Mary Jane Arden, 18+ $66 Members / $73 Non-members Collage is a dynamic and expressive art form that utilizes everyday, affordable materials. In this interactive three-session workshop, students will explore and practice essential collage techniques, including cutting, tearing, stenciling, paper punching, and working with outlines. Each session will begin with a brief 10-minute slide presentation introducing participants to influential collage artists, both historical and contemporary, such as Mary Delany, Henri Matisse, and Lynne Perrella. The majority of the class time will be dedicated to creating an in-class collage project. Additionally, students will receive a weekly handout summarizing key takeaways from the session and providing guidance for an at-home collage project to further their practice. - After earning her BFA in printmaking from the University of Delaware, Mary Jane spent her career as an exhibit designer at a local museum and a graphic designer in higher education. Additionally, for ten years, she was an adjunct instructor of user-centered design at Willmington University and taught graphic design, computer graphics, and drawing at Delaware Technical Community College. Since retirement, Mary Jane has been involved in teaching art to seniors through the Delaware Division of the Arts "Creative Aging Project."
