Description: In this class, you will learn the basics of chainmail making, a centuries-old craft that involves opening and closing metal rings together to create a variety of objects, including jewelry, armor, and other decorative items. Modern materials available in the class can add stretch with rubber links, or color with anodized links. You will learn some of the different weaves of chainmail, the tools and materials needed to make it, and advanced techniques for weaving. By the end of the class, you will be able to take home a chainmail keychain or bracelet you have created.This class is geared toward the person who has never picked up a pair of pliers, and be able to walk out of the session with a bracelet they have made in the International Weave - European 4-in-1. Those who have made maile before will find this class useful for sources, techniques, and camaraderie with other mailers.Prerequisites: No experience is necessary.Cost: $10 for pliers, links, and jeweler's tray to take home with you.
