Description
You will arrive in Annapolis, MD, at approximately 10:30 a.m. Before the cruise, enjoy free time for lunch on your own in downtown Annapolis, where there is a variety of restaurants to choose from as well as shops to browse. At 1 p.m. you set sail into the Annapolis Harbor where you will have the best seat in town to feel the thunderous roar of the aircraft and hear the "sounds of freedom" from the sky as the Blue Angels aircraft perform maneuvers overhead. The very first Blue Angels air show performed was in 1946, making it the second oldest formal flying aerobatic team in the world, after the French. Since then, there have been 246 demonstration pilots and 35 flight leaders/commanding officers. The team celebrated a milestone in history in 2015, when Marine Capt. Katie Higgins was selected to pilot the Blue Angels' Lockheed Martin C-130T Hercules transport aircraft, making her the first female Blue Angels pilot. The Blue Angels' six demonstration pilots fly the F/A-18 Hornet in more than 70 shows at 34 locations throughout the United States each year. The aircraft can reach a maximum of 700 mph during the show, and the closest distance the jets fly to each other is during the Diamond 360 maneuver, when they fly 18 inches apart. There is no better way to see these elite Navy pilots perform than on the water below the show, so sit back and relax while you watch the Blue Angels fly. Following the cruise, you will have free time for dinner on your own before departing for home at 5:30 p.m.
During your free time in Annapolis, if you choose to visit the United States Naval Academy grounds, please be sure to have a valid, unexpired photo ID (i.e., Passport, Passport Card or Driver's License) for access. The entrance to the Naval Academy grounds is at Gate 1 located at the corner of Craig St. and Prince George St. Please Note: Lines can be very long to get in to the Naval Academy during the days of the Blue Angels Air show.
*In the event of inclement weather and the air show is cancelled, the boat will still provide a narrated cruise and there will be no refunds.
