Ceramic Arts: Wheel-throwing Intermediate/Advanced
Instructor: Sue O'Connor
From the basic cylinder, we are able to create amultitude of different shapes and sizes. We willconcentrate on multiple bowls, mugs, lids, altering,and other functional and sculptural wares which will enforce techniques, shape, and design.Trimming, and glazing will be reviewed along withsurface decoration. Porcelain will be introduced.Prerequisite: Students MUST be able to throwa 5'' cylinder, be proficient in intermediateceramic skills which include studio equipmentand glazing.

Ceramic Arts Materials List
Basic Materials to bring to class:
- Basic Pottery Tool Kit (sold on Amazon.com or Blick.com)
- Apron (or wear something that can get dirty)
- Small plastic bucket
- Rags
- Gloves
- Dust mask
BBAC Ceramics Studio Policies/Procedures
Ceramics students are required to follow all department policies and procedures.
BBAC ceramics classes and open studios are intended to introduce and further the education experience, and are not intended to take the place of a personal studio and/or production studio. Students may not bring in work created outside of the BBAC to be bisque-fired, glazed, or glaze-fired at the BBAC.
Purchasing Extra Clay at the BBAC
One 25 lb. bag of clay is included with your class. BBAC offers the service of purchasing
additional clay (one bag at a time) at the beginning of your class time.
• Purchase limit is 3, 25 lb. bags per term
• Each 25 lb. bag of Wheat Stone is $20
• Each 25 lb. bag of Porcelain is $22
Ceramics Open Studio - No Instruction
Open Studio time is available for current term students registered for a ceramics class
of 12 hours or more. Open studios begin the second week of classes and end the week before the term ends. Students can sign up beginning the first week of classes and throughout the term on a rotation basis.
