NEW CLASS AND INSTRUCTOR!Fiber Art / Textiles: Shibori Ancient Japanese Dye Techniques on Natural FiberInstructor: Mindy Mitchell
This textile course explores the Japanese Shiboriand other dye resist methods using syntheticdyes. Students will work with natural fibers (rayon,silk, wool) and explore a variety of resist patterns,surface design, and durable color fastness. Therewill be demonstrations and guided practice usingbasic tools: clamps, thread, needles, rubberbands, and dyes. Students will develop samplesof Shibori techniques and a final silk scarf.

Rubber gloves
Work clothes/ smock
Cotton String
Masking Tape
Needles and Quilting Thread (cotton if possible) White & Dark colors
2- C Clamps, min 4" jaw
Rubber Bands
Scissors
Seam Ripper
+ 6-Plastic containers for mixing dyes (clean yogurt containers, etc.)
Stirring Spoons
2- Large boxes of coarse kosher salt (most economical)
1 Fabric Pencil
