PM: Week 1 - JK-8th Grade - STEM-Science of Slime: Summer Edition

Heritage Oak • 16971 Imperial Hwy Yorba LindaCA  92886 Organized by Heritage Oak Private Education $25 instant refund on this event with gift card.

About this event

Campers will create three different slimes daily inspired by summertime! Explore the science behind how to make slime with Mrs. Kimmel. Making slime is a great way to introduce the concepts of changes in states of matter (from a liquid to a solid), demonstrate the process of cross-linking long chains of molecules, and explore the science of polymers. How does the slime feel? How do the stickiness and stretchiness change when you work it for a while? Would you say the slime is a liquid or is it more like a solid? What is a Non-Newtonian fluid? Explore thermochromic and glow-in-the-dark dyes, mica powders, clay, sand, and all the different materials added to different types of slime. There is no on-campus option for Friday. To participate in camp on Friday, you must select the field trip option for this week.
