In this course, students will use historical inquiry processes and skills to examine the history of the 20th Century from a global perspective. Using the Historical Thinking Concepts, students will engage in an understanding of the significance of various ethnic and cultural conflicts, authoritarian regimes and the development of human rights movements, including indigenous peoples movements. Global conflicts including the First, Second and Cold War will be studied. The social and cultural developments as well as the development of communication and transportation technologies will also be examined, giving students an opportunity to engage with the concepts of change and continuity, cause and consequence and the ethical dimensions of history.
