About this event
This class is for credit. For Burke students, it completes the 9th Grade Computer Science requirement. Students in Introduction to Computer Science will complete activities and projects that introduce Burke's five domains of computer science: 1. Ethics of Computing, 2. Algorithms and Programming, 3. Data and Analysis, 4. Networks and the Internet, 5. Computing Systems. The topics covered will include, HTML, CSS, Javascript, Ethics, CS Fundamentals, and Working with Data . Students will create a Javascript platformer game which allows them to showcase what they have learned. Notes for both courses: Completed courses will be included on a Burke student's Record of Achievement (ROA) for computer science courses. The ROA may be sent along with the student's transcript when applying to colleges. Students will need an iPad, MacBook, or PC computer to complete this course. Students in need of a device should contact the Director of Summer Programs to arrange for the use of a loaned device during the class. Chromebooks are not compatible with the work being completed in these courses.
