BROADWAY GOES TO SCHOOL!
Join us as we learn and perform songs about school from Broadway musicals! From Anne of Green Gables to Matilda to School of Rock, there's something for everyone in this workshop. Students will develop their singing, acting and dancing skills and be able to audition for their school productions with confidence.
Students will develop the skills needed for musical theatre participation – singing, musicianship, acting, and dance – while making new friends and new discoveries.
* Artistic Director is Nancy Curry, an award-winning vocal coach and music director who is the co-chair of the music department at the Canadian College of Performing Arts and holds a PhD in drama education with neurodivergent students.
The day’s schedule is designed for two age groups – 7–11 and 12–16 – who will take classes independently and come together for the final showcase. The day starts at 9 a.m. with singing, music games, and drama improvisation, and continues after lunch with music rehearsals and staging rehearsals for the final show, finishing at 4 p.m. Families are invited to the final performance on Friday afternoon at 4 p.m.
Students do not need to have any previous musical instruction – just a love of singing, dancing, and hamming it up! This is an inclusive camp, and we are happy to make any accommodation needed for students to participate.
