Introduction to Audio Mixing (Online) is a Level 2–3 course designed for beginner and intermediate learners who want to develop strong, practical skills in audio mixing. This online format is ideal for students who cannot attend in-person classes at the Victoria Downtown campus, offering a flexible and accessible way to gain hands-on experience in the art and science of mixing.
Throughout the course, students will learn the full mixing workflow—from session setup and editing to mastering fundamentals. Topics include EQ, compression, effects processing, dynamics, and critical listening practices. By the end of the course, beginners can expect to reach an intermediate level, while intermediate students will progress toward more advanced mixing skills.
Who This Course Is For
This course is suitable for:• Beginners with little to no prior mixing experience• Intermediate learners looking to solidify and expand their mixing techniques
There are no prerequisites. However, to get the most out of the course, students are encouraged to have:
• An audio interface• A good pair of headphones/speakers
Students will also need a Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) installed on their computer. In the first class, we will review several DAW options and guide students through downloading, installing, and setting up their chosen software.
