An exciting and new initiative from the Victoria Conservatory of Music, The Big Band will give students an incredible opportunity to explore the big band jazz tradition while improving their musicianship and instrumental abilities. Led by Juno-nominated saxophonist Ryan Oliver, the band will rehearse weekly in a challenging, supportive and inspiring environment, focusing on a wide variety of composers and arrangers culminating in a public performance each semester.
Folks are welcome to apply to join this band at any time. Our rolling audition process is based on a brief video audition. Email carroll@vcm.bc.ca. Some applicants will be accepted based on a positive referral.
