About this event
This 10-week session will focus on the basics of wheel throwing. Total beginners and those with some experience throwing on the wheel are welcome. We will cover the steps involved to make a piece on the wheel and how to finish this piece at the leather hard stage. The class will run for 6 weeks, then there will be a two-week break in which students are invited to hone their new gained skills with uninstructed open studio sessions. After the break, there will be two more classes to delve into surface decoration and glazing. Formal instruction with Goedele takes place on Saturdays, September 16th – October 21st, November 11th, and November 18th from 10AM-1PM. Optional, uninstructed open studio sessions will be offered on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, September 19th – November 17th and Saturdays, October 28th and November 4th from 10AM-1PM each day. There will be demonstrations, lots of practice time with individual attention and some challenges to hone your new-gained skills. By the end of the course, students will have been taught a strong foundation in throwing and will be able to create pots that are both functional and beautiful. Please note: All ceramics projects need to be fired in a pottery kiln and take approximately 2+ weeks before they are ready to be taken home. You will receive an email once pieces are ready for pickup. If you will no longer be in Telluride, domestic shipping options are available via a third party, Ship It, Copy It.
