New this summer: CITs will earn their CPR, First Aid, and Epinephrine administration certification from ReadySF! Hone leadership skills and set up for future success with our Counselor-in-Training program at Coastal Camp! The CIT program is designed to encourage and guide high school students towards being effective leaders in their communities. We provide CITs with the tools they’ll need to lead in actionable, concrete ways, and empower them to be the next generation of environmental stewards, educators, and activists. We know high school students have a lot of options when it comes to how to spend their summers. CITs will enjoy all of the fun of the summer camps they remember from younger days, including making new friends, playing games and hiking the Headlands, with the added experience of leading our elementary-aged campers. They will practice building a structured plan for a day of camp, learn strategies for debriefing activities, and get hands-on practice working with younger participants. Being a CIT is a great way to learn marketable skills that can be added to resumes or college applications in the future. CITs are encouraged to apply to Coastal Camp in future summers!* Activities may include: CPR, First Aid and Epinephrine training with a two year certification Planning a full day of Coastal Camp activities for a younger camp group Learning debriefing strategies Practicing leading team building and science education activities Co-leading a group of young Coastal Campers *Please note that Coastal Camp typically does not hire until the age of 18, so employment will depend on the CIT’s age and other experience. **NOTE: This is a two week program! If you need the bus, make sure to select both weeks in the session options.
