Girls Basketball Instructor/Coach: Arnett Mosely Grades: 6-8 Fall/Spring June 9-July 18, 2025 Times: Monday through Thursday, 12:30-2:30 PM Location: SMHS Small Gym This course is designed for players of all skill levels, providing a fun, inclusive environment that fosters self-confidence, sportsmanship, and teamwork through fundamental skill development. Participants will engage in daily instruction focusing on essential basketball techniques, including: Fundamentals: Footwork and balance, dribbling, passing, shooting, and understanding game rules. Athletic Skill Training: Running, jumping, change of direction, flexibility, and agility. Offensive Strategies: L-cuts, V-cuts, J-cuts, setting screens, and motion offense. Defensive Techniques: Man-to-man defense, close-out, and blocking out. Students will apply these skills through fundamental drills, exercises, and game-like scenarios. Skill assessments will occur through daily observation and weekly scrimmages. Coach Mosely (Coach Mo) is the current Head Coach of the Huntington Middle School Girls Basketball team and an Assistant Coach for the St. Francis Freshman Basketball team. Coach Mo has 40 years of coaching experience which includes positions as a High School Varsity Head Coach and AAU/Club National Head Coach. He has played a pivotal role in the development of numerous athletes, most notably, Ziaire Williams, a former Stanford University player and current member of the NBA’s Brooklyn Nets.
