Beginner Tai Chi. T’ai Chi is a very slow and soft martial art form that is excellent for the brain, for balance and body awareness, and for calming and centering the mind. In class we begin with short readings from the Tao Te Ching(Book of the Way), Chi Gong(warm up exercises), and slow step-by-step learning and memorization of the T’ai Chi form. Tai Chi requires intense physical movements - participants must be able to move from standing to sitting on the ground and back up again. Ideally, its is practiced barefoot. If shoes are needed, they must have soles thin enough to that you can feel the ground. Participants should wear loose or stretchy clothes to allow freedom of movement. This is a progressive learning class and drop-in participants are not permitted. Instructor Margaret Falletta has practiced Tai Chi for 26 years and taught for 14. She was a student of Master Xiang Dai of Beijing for over a year and studied with Heloise Gold of Austin since 1999. Margaret looks forward to sharing her knowledge and passion for Tai Chi.
