About this event
Activity Organizer: Deepali Sinha Email: deepali.sinha@gmail.com Dates: Mondays Time: 4:00 PM–5:00 PM Location: TBD Grades: 6–12 Cost: $150 Description: An Assistive Technology (AT) is any item or device that is used to help solve problems that people with disabilities encounter in their day to day lives. Many people actually see AT every day, for example, Text-to-Speech software, Braille Displays, or Text Magnifiers. Throughout the year, students in the Design 4 Assistive Technology Club will learn about the three-step process to building useful AT: Brainstorming/Ideation, Technological Implementation, and Testing. Once the students have successfully learned how to create AT, they will then be connected to work alongside a person with a disability (a.k.a., co-designer) to create an AT that applies and helps them, and present their work at the Maker Faire at the end of the year!
