About this event
All the inhabitants of San Francisco are hunkering down for the winter season, thriving on stored food from the fall gatherings. All animals including us at Tree Frog Treks are finding ways to explore their environment and how it has changed since summer. Even in temperate Central California a trained naturalist can observe seasonal behaviors and environmental factors intrinsic to this wonderful time in our city. Join Tree Frog Treks and our experienced Wild Science team some Fall exploration and learning as we journey from our home base of Frog Hall to several wonderful parks nearby to discover the wild side of San Francisco! Campers will discover the amazing plants and animals who inhabit our beautiful city, from soaring Red-tailed Hawks to slimy Slender Salamanders. In addition to outdoor adventures, campers will perform hands-on science experiments, play games, and make nature-inspired art. They'll even get to have face-to-face encounters with our creepy crawly Animal Ambassadors like Thorny the Bearded Dragon or Blondie the Burmese Python! It's the perfect time to get and get dirty, so put on your explorer hat, grab your binoculars and bug nets, a let's hit the trail for some science fun! Frog Hall Fall Camp is a very mobile camp- expect your campers to travel by "BMW" (bus/muni/walk) to high interest areas of San Francisco. Frog Hall sessions meet at our new office at 3835 Mission Street (near Crescent Ave.) Most of our animals are kept here! Campers have time in the morning to meet the animals, hold them, feed them and learn about them. Then the group heads to a nearby destination via BMW (bus/muni/walk) to check out the turf, play a game, dig some dirt and so much more! Unless otherwise noted, campers will return to Frog Hall at the end of the camp day.
