About this event
AUDITION FORMAT & DRESS The audition consists of a ballet class, repertoire, and improvisation. Wear form-fitting dancewear and style hair neatly away from your face. Most students wear a leotard and tights or shorts, but there is no restriction on color or style. Pointe work is not required at the audition. You may also use this audition for the LINES Training Program and the LINES BFA at Dominican University. SUMMER PROGRAM Alonzo King LINES Ballet | Summer Program is designed for aspiring artists ages 11-25 and offers a unified approach to training — rooted in the philosophy of Alonzo King. Our Summer Program supports the artistic growth of ballet and contemporary dancers. Dancers are guided on a collaborative journey that values risk-taking and independent thinking. Our aim is to supply a solid technical underpinning, based in classical training, and to provide an environment for the unfolding of the student's own creative power. They are encouraged to problem-solve through exploration and a tenacious work ethic. Emphasis is placed on cultivating the ability to recognize individual gifts and express themselves with fluency. Pre-Professional Program | June 11 – June 30 Showcase | 8pm Friday, July 30 Ages 18-25 | Must be 18 by start of program Advanced Program | July 14 – August 4 Showcase: 8 pm Friday, August 4 Ages 14-17 | Must be 14 by start of program Junior Program (May attend 1 or both weeks) Week 1 | July 5 – July 9 (Wed. – Sun.) Week 2 | July 11 – July 15 (Tue. – Sat.) Ages 11-14 | Must be 11 by start of program
