This course will cover maintenance information of various foam systems produced. This class is appropriate for EVTs working on foam proportioners or Compressed Air Foam Systems. It is also a prep class for EVTs taking the F7 test. This class includes both classroom didactic and hands on instructional information. Classroom information will include basic foam properties, manual and automatic proportioners, compressor systems, foam and CAFS maintenance, proportioner calibration, compressor tuning, troubleshooting, and NFPA annual proportioner and compressor testing. Hands-on activities will include tabletop air control circuit exercise, proportioner calibration, compressor adjustments, troubleshooting, and proportioner and compressor tests. A step-by step troubleshooting procedure will be discussed to help students determine the causes of malfunctions and problems interfering with various foam system operations. Proper maintenance and repair procedures will be discussed to ensure that fire apparatus equipped with foam application systems will achieve maximum performance and service life.
