About this event
For the first time ever, TPS is forming an official FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) team. During our inaugural year, we hope to learn the "ins and outs" of this upper-tier robotics contest (for students in Grades 7-12) that utilizes reusable metal components, real tools, and (optionally) Java-encoded software. Only a few students are needed to register as a licensed FTC robotics squad for the official FIRST district qualifier event in March. No technical skills are required, just enthusiasm and a willingness to learn alongside facilitators. All kinds of talents are needed -- not just fans of engineering, coding, and electrical systems. Matt is TPS’ Director of Educational Technology and works closely with teachers to integrate progressive technology into the classroom. (Please note: There are no sessions on Feb 20 and March 27. Sixth grade students are not age eligible to compete. Extra days to practice may be offered within the semester and coordinated directly through Matt. This club will be offered in the subsequent semester. A yearlong commitment is strongly encouraged for the sake of cohesive participation and the team's success.)
