About this event
Can we as a planet ever meet the present needs without compromising the future? As humans we have always depended on the natural environment for survival. The true goal of sustainability is to find a way for people to co-exist on Earth over a long period of time. This requires a plan for all environmental, social, and economic needs to be met in balance. Inspired by Earth Day, this special program focuses on understanding and protecting our planet. We are challenging ourselves to be resourceful with reusable materials, while gardening and cleaning our spaces. Students will make beeswax wraps, assemble zero-waste bird feeders, and design reusable tote bags. For those who are interested, students are welcome to bring in an old t-shirt for an additional fun project (which is not required)! In hope of supporting eco-friendly habits, our team has created our own Eco Challenge through EarthMonth.org, which we invite your family to join for the month of April (password: April25). Together we will watch our progress, while discussing the state of our environment, the impact we each have, and inspiring accountability with real change! Programs run from 9:00am - 3:00pm, with drop-off available between 8:00 - 9:00am and prompt pick-up between 3:00 - 4:00pm. Drop-off & pick-up will take place at the front desk of the Lombard campus. There is a scheduled snack break and lunch time for all students. Each student must bring a packed lunch (with a drink) from home.
