Fishing & Dissection
The Philadelphia School • 2501 Lombard Street Philadelphia, PA 19146 Organized by The Philadelphia School
Registration closed.
About this event
Come spend your mornings learning the art of catch-and-release fishing on the Schuylkill River and the afternoon indoors dissecting several organisms in the lab with former TPS teacher Virginia. Campers will collect and graph data from daily catches and learn about the proper care, use, and mechanics of a fishing rod. In afternoon labs, campers will apply comparative anatomy to dissections to better understand the species and themselves. The camp is eligible for an opportunity to conclude with a trip to Fairmount Waterworks and kayaking on the river, through the Schuylkill River Banks Project. Please note: No prior fishing experience or fishing equipment necessary. All materials are included in the cost of camp. There will be no camps running on July 4. If selected, the last day will have extended hours for the trip. More information will be provided to families closer to summer.
