New to Rugby? @DCC_Rugby This camp is run by our Head Varsity Rugby Coach Ian Ronayne and his staff and some of the team members. CC has signed multiple college Rugby players over the last several seasons. It is CC and many Colleges fastest growing sports. The camp is open to incoming 9th grade students and students in middle school wanting to learn about the sport of Rugby. This is a non-contact camp that emphasizes safety and proper technique. Rugby was created by William Webb Ellis is 1823. Rugby is a world wide game with 94 nations participating. Rugby is all action for 80 minutes. Rugby is played by 2 teams of 15 players (13 in Rugby league). You have be able to attack and defend. Everyone runs with the ball and tackles equally, so the lineman in American football get to "live the dream" of scoring! CC has a competitive Varsity Rugby team that competes against national and state opponents in the Spring. Rugby camp will allow students in grade 5 -9 to learn about an exciting, active game! We know you are NEW to Rugby, so this is a camp for beginners and to teach the game. There will be no full contact. The camp will be hosted by the Catholic Central Rugby staff and players.
