A Yin Yoga practice is a welcome addition to any yoga, fitness, or healthy lifestyle routine. This slow, gentle form of yoga is the perfect complement to a hectic, fast-paced life or intense workouts. Yin Yoga uses gentle, relaxing postures to increase flexibility, stretch the deep connective tissues of the body and alleviate tension. The class is slower paced and done entirely on the floor, either seated on a mat or lying down. Poses are passive and held for up to two or three minutes, which allows areas like ligaments, joints, bones and fascia to lengthen and stretch. Additional benefits include improved circulation from incorporating deep breathing techniques, as well as releasing tension in tight spots, creating a calmer, more relaxed state of mind. This class is suitable for people who are new to yoga or want to balance intense workouts. It's also great for those who have health concerns or injuries who are looking for a low intensity activity. Yoga mat or exercise mat required, also a large bath towel, beach towel or yoga blanket. 5 weeks
Yoga or exercise mat required. Please also bring a large bath towel or yoga blanket. No class December 11.
