About this event
The Yard is located on Governors Island and is NYC’s only adventure playground. Our programs are guided by playwork. Our summer camp is self-directed, so much of your child’s day will be (wonderfully) up to them! They will have opportunities to play with others, spend time alone, build, take apart, paint, splash, imagine, dig, read a book, relax, or anything else they can come up with! Campers will also have the option to walk around Governors Island, exploring other areas of the island with our team. We also have a few bikes and scooters available. This camp is entirely outdoors. Your child will get dirty and/or wet and may get small bumps, bruises, or scratches, as is the nature of play. Please pack clothes you don’t mind getting dirty, and a change of clothes. Closed-toe shoes are mandatory and you will receive a full packing list before the start of camp. We recommend this program for children ages 6-12. Drop off and pick up is at the CitiBike station near the Battery Maritime Building (downtown Manhattan). All families must sign a waiver and submit a recent health form. This change is due to staff wage increases, which we hope will help our team meet the rising costs of living in NYC. As is the case every year, your tuition also helps make it possible for play:groundNYC to provide free access to The Yard every weekend for thousands of children, and to organize play pop-ups all over the city; thank you. We are proud to continue to offer a tiered pricing system which strives to make our summer camp program affordable to all families.
