About this event
In this class, students will learn how to use sneaker design as a medium for storytelling. Students will become familiar with basic sneaker structure and composition. Students will also learn different types of textiles, as well as color theory—and how they both play a role in evoking emotions in visual storytelling. Students will practice this by creating mood boards for some of their favorite folk stories. Students will also learn the works of past and current sneaker artists and the stories behind their iconic designs. As well as get a chance to make paper mache replicas of their favorite pairs. At the end of the course, students will customize their own pair of sneakers drawing inspiration from their personal stories. Students will end the class with a "Sneaker Art Gala" where students will invite friends and family to see their beautiful sneaker creations and learn about the stories that inspired them. Participants must supply a pair of all white sneakers.
