Student Leader(s): Julia S. with Mr. Gleich Email: lewis.gleich@basisindependent.com International Cultures Club (previously International Students Club) was formed by both international and domestic BASIS Independent McLean students from different cultural backgrounds. The club aims to not only share and learn cultures from various countries, but also help new international students better adapt to a new environment. The club is open to all students, regardless of their cultural background. Early in the year, we focus on supporting new members (both international and non-international) to adapt to their new environment. The club sponsors informational sessions and workshops. Group members discuss and share about their culture. Discussions are from many different perspectives (the most popular one is definitely FOOD! At the end of the year the club will sponsor the second annual Global Cultures Day. We will use the knowledge that we gain about culture throughout the year to give back to our community.
