About this event
Following our thrilling championship victory last year, we are excited to expand our middle school Wildcat Speech & Debate program! This is your chance to step into the spotlight and develop the skills you need for both formal and informal presentations. Participants will learn how to construct compelling arguments and effectively inform, persuade, and motivate their audience in countless creative ways. According to the English-Speaking Union, debate is not just an academic exercise; it’s a powerful tool for personal growth! Engaging in debate enhances digital literacy and multimedia research skills, fosters critical thinking and diverse perspectives, and transforms public speaking into an empowering experience. Plus, it builds confidence, teaches effective listening, and strengthens civic discourse—essential skills for today’s world. The advanced competitive debate class dives deeper into advanced topics and preparing you for tournament success. Students new to the competition scene will need to audition for the advanced class, while those without prior debate experience the beginner class. After completing one term in the beginner program, you’ll have the exciting opportunity to join the advanced competitive team! Don’t miss out on this chance to unleash your voice, sharpen your skills, and become a confident communicator. Join us this spring and be part of the Wildcat legacy!
