About this event
Ages 16+ Experience Level All experience levels welcome* CLASS DESCRIPTION A space to learn, experiment, and play. Discover the rugged beauty of Adirondack Rock through acrylic painting. Participants will explore how to build convincing rock forms using simple shapes, layered color, and textured mark-making with brushwork and palette knife. *This class is ideal for beginners and those wanting to loosen their style. Individual guidance will be tailored to each student's goals. The class combines instruction, guided exercises, and individual feedback, plus opportunities to connect with other artists. Students will complete one rock-focused landscape painting and gain tools for continued exploration. MATERIALS If you already have acrylic supplies, simply bring what you have. "I use Golden or Liquitex Heavy Body Acrylics. Student-grade paints are fine to start, though they have less pigment and a thinner consistency. If you plan to continue painting, investing in higher-quality materials is worthwhile." — Holly Friesen • Acrylic paints in whatever colors you like (minimum: red, blue, yellow, titanium white, and a dark earth tone like Burnt Umber or Burnt Sienna) • Brushes - various sizes • Palette knife - various sizes • Palette (a paper plate works fine) • Acrylic paper pad (8 x 10 or 9 x 12) • Stretched canvas (8 x 10, 11 x 14, 12 x 16 or whatever size you feel comfortable with) • Sketchbook • Pencil • ½" or 1" masking tape • Optional: Table easel (we'll have some available)
