Standard First Aid is equivalent to WorkSafeBC/CSA Z1210-17 Intermediate and can be used by First Aid Attendants in the workplace. Standard First Aid with CPR-C & AED is a prerequisite to the Lifesaving Society's National Lifeguard Awards. This course includes comprehensive training covering all aspects of first aid, CPR, and AED use. Whether you need training for employment or simply want to be prepared to respond to life-threatening emergencies, this course will give you the skills and knowledge to act with confidence.
A prerequisite to the Lifesaving Society's National Lifeguard awards, Standard First Aid with CPR-C & AED builds on the skills learned in Emergency First Aid to respond with confidence to many first aid emergencies. New items covered are soft tissue and skeletal injuries, environmental emergencies, and medical emergencies. Written examination required.
Manual, Supplement Guide, and Pocket Mask included
The Lifesaving Society’s First Aid and CPR programs provide people with rescue skills to manage illness or injuries while accessing emergency services. First aid training from the Lifesaving Society focuses on a principle-based learning approach where students leave feeling confident in using their new rescue skills.
We follow the International Liaison Committee for Resuscitation (ILCOR) guidelines and are part of the Canadian First Aid Consensus Task Force (along with the Canadian Red Cross, St. John Ambulance, Canadian Ski Patrol, and the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada).
ID requirements if participants desire a certification at the end of the course is as follows:
Candidates are required to produce one (1 piece of acceptable, valid, photographic identification (photo ID) to the First Aid Instructor/Examiner at the start of the course.
Examples of acceptable photo ID are:
- Valid Canadian or U.S. Driver's License, or BC Services Card
- Valid passport
- Valid BC student ID issued for the current school year
- Employee picture ID card
- Valid Secure Certificate of Indian Status or Certificate of Indian Status card
- BC photo ID (digital) issued November 1996 or later
- Canadian government issued photo ID
72-Hour Cancellation Policy: Any cancellation made less than 72 hours prior to the program start will result in the full program fee being charged.
