This is for ages 16+ with a disability.Meet us at Latta Nature Preserve for a taste of adventure on Mountain Island Lake! Come enjoy a beautiful evening on the water. This program will be geared towards beginners, as we introduce participants to their kayak and paddle, as well as learn the skills for paddling and maneuvering around the lake
All equipment is provided, but dress appropriately for the weather and water.
Always bring water, a towel, and a change of clothes just in case. We will meet at the North Kayak Access launch - turn right onto North Canoe Access Rd from Sample Road and drive all the way back until you see the water. On google maps, you can use this address to take you directly to the launch: 60 Access St, Huntersville, NC 28078
A yearly therapeutic recreation assessment is required for registration. If the error "Missing Prerequisite: Customer qualification missing or expired for Skill TIRS Assessment Verified" appears when attempting to register, please contact staff at TIRS at TRinfo@MeckNC.Gov or 980-314-1192 to schedule a therapeutic recreation assessment.
