Salsa Beginner/Intermediate 4-Week Series
McGaw Main Building 1000 Grove St Evanston, IL 60201 Organized by McGaw YMCAAbout this event
Description
We're sorry, but this activity is over. The last meeting was Sunday, April 30, 2023.
Whether you have never danced before, or you have been dancing for the last 6-12 months, this class is for you! Beginners and intermediate dancers will be split within the same class to learn level-appropriate steps and become a better dancer at your own pace.
Directly from Puerto Rico and Cuba, but created in The United States, Salsa is the perfect union of two cultures. Syncopated rhythms based on Afro-Cuban beats, Bomba, Plena & Son, Salsa has been a long-standing fad since the 70s era of the Fania All-Stars (over 50 years), and it has never gone away as a main vibrant base of Latin cultures mainly Puerto Rico, Cuba, Colombia and Central America. Salsa, directly translated as "Sauce,” requires several rhythms to be cooked.
This 4-week series runs on Sundays at 3pm from April 2-30 (no class on 4/9). FREE to members and $48 for non-members. Space is limited. Members registering must be able to commit to at least 3 of the 4 class dates.
