Cactus Watercolor Paintings

Discover the beauty of desert cacti in this fun and relaxing watercolor and pen-and-ink workshop, inspired by the NAT’s From Coast to Cactus exhibition. Learn how to image transfer a variety of cactus shapes and use expressive pen techniques before adding vibrant watercolor washes to create depth, texture, and dimension.

When you arrive, please come to the Encinitas Community & Senior Center lobby for check-in. We will load the bus as a group, leaving promptly at 9:00am.
In addition to visiting the San Diego Natural History Museum, the group will make cactus watercolor paintings at Pacific View Art Center. Discover the beauty of desert cacti in this fun and relaxing watercolor and pen-and-ink workshop, inspired by the NAT’s From Coast to Cactus exhibition. Learn how to image transfer a variety of cactus shapes and use expressive pen techniques before adding vibrant watercolor washes to create depth, texture, and dimension.

We expect to return to the Encinitas Community & Senior Center by 3:30pm.
Please note that this program does not include a tour of the San Diego Natural History Museum and exploration is self-guided. There will be a voluntary small-group scavenger hunt for those interested. Participants are free to roam around the Natural History Museum and the local area but must return to the bus at the predetermined location by 2:15pm to depart for the Encinitas Community & Senior Center.
