About this event
9 sessions x 67 minutes Inspire your child to write in the world of fantasy! This course will explore the art of fables and fairytales and the ingredients that go into creating this type of fiction. This course is all about fantasy! Students will read several fables and fairytales and develop an appreciation of a compelling story: plot, dialogue, figurative language, character development, sequence of events, and imagery. Fables from Aesops will be read and fairy tales from Disney and other classics will be read as well. Meaning and characters will develop imaginative writing. Each student will attempt to create their own story with guidance from the instructor on how to realize motivation and consequences of morals and lessons learned from human behavior. Students draw on all materials read aloud in class and get their chance to create their very own stories. Imagination through reading and writing allows each student to have fun and share their voice through fables and fairy tales which allows the characters to come to life and mimic human behavior in the worlds of forests and palaces of fantasy. Consequences and morals of good and poor behavior will come through in characters and your child’s voice. What fun! This course will enable your student to: 1. Develop creative writing skills by writing their own stories and fictional characters. 2. Read, appreciate, and model the hallmarks of fables and fairy tales. 3. Complete their own short stories with fun and guidance relating to morals and lessons learned in human behavior.
