Description

This hybrid course is designed for individuals who want to lifeguard in a pool setting and will include in-person training as well as online training modules. Participants must be at least 15 by the first day of the course. The course includes a swimming pre-test* the first day of class, rescue skills for shallow and deep water, spinal injury management skills, CPR skills, AED skills, first aid skills and a written and in water skills test. At the completion of the course, participants will be certified in Lifeguard Training, CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and First Aid.

Participants should be prepared to enter the water during the course. You will need to bring a writing instrument, swim suit, and towel.

Swimming pre-test: swim-tread-swim sequence (150m swim, 2 min tread using only legs, 50m swim), timed brick retrieval (swim 20 yards, retrieve 10lb brick from 10-12ft water, return to start in 1min 40sec.)

All classes will be taught by a certified instructor, upon successful completion, participants will receive a two year certification in American Red Cross Lifeguard Training and CPR/PR. Class attendance is required.
