The Summer Writing Institute will include a thematic approach to writing to include creative writing, argumentative/persuasive writing, and memoir/personal statement writing. The depth and focus of courses taught will vary according to grade level to achieve grade-appropriate instruction and challenge. Imagine what writing skills you will gain after spending up to three weeks in our Summer Writing Institute! Participation in multiple weeks is encouraged. Argumentative/Persuasive Writing Students will learn the basic components of writing a persuasive text, including how to include ethos, pathos, and logos as well as how to write effective concession and rebuttals. Students will write their own pieces of persuasive nonfiction, learn how to give substantive feedback to peers, and apply feedback from instructors and peers. Students should bring a writing notebook and pencil/pen of their choice.
