YEAR LONG CLASS, NO NEW STUDENTS, RETURNERS ACCEPTED THIS SESSION ONLY: Come and join the FCDS Award Winning Speech & Debate Team! Learn the art of persuasion and argumentation with Coach Zareen and Coach Brodie as we research exciting, worldview-expanding topics in preparation for our tournaments. Our tournaments take place through the Inland Valley Debate League (IVDL) and the Orange County Debate League (OCDL), where we travel by bus to compete against top schools for a chance at first place! This class is designated for 5th and 6th graders, as well as any new 7-8 graders joining our program this year. We meet weekly on Tuesdays, with occasional Saturday Practices throughout the year and around one FULL DAY Saturday tournament per session. This class will focus on building a strong foundation in researching topics using our ARESR strategy (Assertion, Reasoning, Evidence, Significance, Result) and developing speaking skills. This is a year long commitment, as debate skills develop best through practice and hard work. Registration will occur each session, along with payment. Confidence starts here!
