Aikido is a non-competitive Japanese martial art based on the principles of the Samurai sword arts: self control, mindfulness, respect for all living things, and truth and sincerity in all behaviors. Aikido is often called, "The Way of Harmonious Energy" because its training punctuates the need for moving in a non-confrontive manner using the energy of an assailant as your own. Aikido training helps to build confidence, to develop intelligent whole body movement, and training develops a students health by learning how to run energy through the body.
