Aikido is a non-competitive Japanese martial art based on the principle of the samurai sword arts: self control, mindfulness, respect for all living things and truth and sincerity in all behaviors. Aikido is often called the Way of Harmonious Energy because its training punctuates the need for moving in a non confrontive manner using the energy of the assailant as your own. Aikido training helps to build confidence, to develop intelligent whole body movement.
