Description
Introduces students to basic visual grammar of photographic seeing to explore and pursue diverse interests in photography while learning to become an acute observer. Using digital cameras with manual controls and RAW capture, students will learn the craft of making photographs while also being introduced to issues of aesthetic form, historical context, and diverse photographic practices. Students will question, explore, communicate and evaluate using basic photographic concepts and critical-thinking skills while acquiring new sets of technical, conceptual, and formal language that are applicable to many disciplines. Please note a mirrorless or DSLR camera is required for this course.
Summer at Columbia students are automatically enrolled in a 1 credit hour Entrepreneurship for Creatives course in addition to the course listed above.
