Description
Self Defense Jujitsu-Judo for Ages 15 to Adult Mondays, May 15 through July 10
5 p.m. to 6 p.m. No class on May 29th
This class will teach the safe and effective use of Self Defense Jujitsu-Judo Techniques. The focus of our program is to provide participants with concrete skills that they can use to prevent violence as bystanders, escape and defuse violent situations, and to not perpetrate violence. Martial arts empower individuals and gives them the self efficacy to act. Martial arts promote respect, patience, humility, self-awareness, wisdom, and consent. Participants develop physical fitness, self esteem, and an improved cognitive function. Additionally, s elf defense classes give individuals strategies to protect themselves, especially when NO is not effective.
This class meets in the Physical Education Complex off of the Foster Ave entrance. Participants should wear loose, comfortable clothing and bring a hand towel and a water bottle.
Any class participant who may wish to remain and workout with NEIU's Jujitsu-Judo Club Members are welcome to do so. These times are Mondays and Thursdays from 6 to 7:30 PM.
