Haughn Natural Area Hike - Let's Learn About Black Bears
Municipality of Chester • 151 King Street PO Box 369 Chester, NS, Canada B0J 1J0 Organized by The Municipality of the District of ChesterAbout this event
Description
We're sorry, but this activity is over. The last meeting was Saturday, May 3, 2025.
The Haughn property in Middle River supports a diverse variety of flora and fauna for such a small area. The trail here winds through forest and along a stream providing a nice emersion into the natural world. The trail is well built and is dry and easy to follow but does undulate up and down as you explore. Although only 2 kms total, come prepared for a bit of a work-out, bring water, and wear good, sturdy footwear. During this hike, we will be in search of wildlife sign. We will stop at some point to learn about our Neighbours, the Black Bear…behaviour, habitat, breeding, and safety concerns (for us and the bears). Bring water, extra layer, good footwear, and perhaps a snack.Bring water, extra layer good footwear, and perhaps a snack.
