Grade K-2 - 20 Sessions Welcome all to Art 101! Students will meet to create art of all kinds ranging from drawing and painting, to clay crafts. In this club students will learn about all elements of art including line, shape, color, and texture. They will also be introduced to many influential artists such as Van Goh and Kandinsky, as well as art from all different types of cultures. Students will have the opportunity to share any and all types of art of their cultural background. All types of media will be introduced to create art that is 2 dimensional as well as 3 dimensional. Some of these include but are not limited to pencils (graphite and colored), paint( watercolor and acrylic), and Clay (air dry). Students will be shown the proper techniques and skills to use these mediums as well as the proper precautions in order to keep the environment safe for everyone. Lastly, students will be introduced to the idea of constructive criticism. They will be participating in exercises that allow them to observe their peers at work and learn ways to give feedback in order to improve their piece. This is beneficial not only for their peers but also for the students themselves in order to prompt open conversation within the classroom.
