Ancient Greek Language

BASIS INDEPENDENT RED HOOK • 556 Columbia Street BrooklynNY  11231 Organized by BASIS Independent Brooklyn

About this event

Step back in time and discover the language of ancient philosophers, poets, and historians in the Ancient Greek Language Club! In this club, students will explore the basics of Classical Greek, starting with the alphabet and moving on to simple sentence structures and vocabulary. Whether you’re fascinated by Greek mythology, ancient history, or simply love learning new languages, this club offers an exciting introduction to one of the world’s oldest and most influential languages. Led by our very own Ms. Tilly, students will gain a deeper understanding of how the ancient Greeks communicated, and how their language has shaped the modern world. The club will explore key elements of Greek grammar and syntax through fun, interactive lessons, with a focus on reading and translating Greek myths, stories, and historical texts. By the end of the semester, students will have the opportunity to apply their knowledge by translating a Greek myth, bringing the ancient world to life through their own translations. Whether you're a beginner or already have some language skills, the Ancient Greek Language Club is the perfect place to unlock the mysteries of the past and develop a deeper appreciation for ancient cultures!
