About this event
10 Weeks Many traditional printmaking techniques employ chemicals that are harmful to the environment and equipment that is large, heavy, and inaccessible. This course focuses on eco-friendly materials and methods and teaches printmaking without the use of a printers-press. Students will learn Monotype, Linocut, Etching, Lithograph, and Collagraph printing as well as how to print 3-dimensional objects using the Japanese process of Gyotaku. Printmaking at its foundational core, is an accessible medium for creating 2-dimensional images and developing creative visual thinking. While practicing these processes, students will also come to learn a basic understanding of the history of these methods and how contemporary artists are developing new ways of incorporating them into practice today. This class is open to all levels.
