About this event
In our three-week course, students will be introduced to the basics of making beaded jewelry: basic stringing with beading wire & working with jewelry wire. You’ll finish the course with a solid foundation in basic techniques that can lead you to multiple variations and advanced techniques using similar materials and tools. With a strong foundation, students can improve their technique and build their skills with confidence. Students must bring their own materials to class the first week. Materials and tools required for the first class: · beading wire, Beadalon or Softflex medium is a good choice, at least 24” for a standard length necklace, at least 12” for a bracelet · beads · spacers or 8/0 or 11/0 seed beads (optional but recommended) · 2-2x2 crimp tubes · 2-4mm crimp covers · 2 to 4 jump rings, 5-6mm · Clasp · 2 bead stoppers (optional) Tools will be available for use during class. To purchase your materials in person, check out Glorious Beads in Castro Valley, Beadazzled in Berkeley, Bead Inspirations in Alameda, or your local craft store. Online, you may want to try Etsy, Fire Mountain, Artbeads, or Beadaholique. Be sure to allow time for shipping! Please view our refund policy at artstudio.berkeley.edu/faqs
