About this event
[Tentatively Planned for MDI High School Library] 10 weeks, 8 classes (no class 11/11 or 11/25 due to holidays). Beginning Heart Rhythm Meditation (HRM) techniques. 90 minute classes consisting of introduction of new practices and group discussions, followed by guided meditations. Heart Rhythm Meditation is a technique pioneered by Susanna and Puran Bair from a lineage of ancient Sufi wisdom. Unlike other methods, HRM is simple, powerful, and built around something you already have—your breath and heartbeat. Attention to these rhythms nourishes the mind-body connection, bringing us into a state of greater peace and harmony and balance. Enhanced Personal Development: HRM enables you to tap into your creativity and courage to accomplish your goals. Work Through Trauma: HRM trains your heart to process feelings, helping big emotions feel smaller over time. Stress & Anxiety Relief, Better Sleep: HRM helps tune your internal rhythms for greater emotional resilience and rest. Improved Heart Health: Peer-reviewed research shows HRM improves Heart-Rate-Variability* and Vagal Tone with 10 minutes a day. Stephen Hodgdon has been practicing Heart Rhythm Meditation for over twenty five years and has been teaching it both locally and online for twenty-one years . He is an iamHeart Mentor, Hurqalya Healer and web-course teacher. He leads two weekly online meditations focusing on spirituality, and leads the Hazrat Inayat Khan Healing Ceremony for iamHeart’s prayer circle once weekly. He has taught music in the Maine public schools for nearly fifty years and is now retired and living on Mount Desert Island.
