NESM Welding Shop • 7 Albiston Way AuburnME  04210 Organized by New England School of Metalwork

About this event

In this comprehensive and fast paced course, students will gain theory and practice in the 3 main types of welding processes used to weld Aluminum. Through lecture and slide show, our seasoned instructor will cover all basic technical information about welding aluminum and its properties. What makes welding aluminum different from other metals and how to trouble shoot and refine your approach. Students will receive practical hands-on lessons in the proper equipment set up for each process followed by a series of exercises to provide as much hands-on training in each. GMAW - using a push pull system to weld 1/4in aluminum bars. With 1/8in bars to follow. GTAW - to tig weld on 1/8in material. Specific exercises or a small project will complement the practice. Laser - The student will be introduced to the equipment and setup of the laser welder, as well as safety and use differences. Then after demonstration student will be allowed to use the laser welding to weld 1/8in material. This is a basic introduction to Aluminum and in no way should this course be seen as an in-depth approach, we provide specific courses for in-depth comprehension. A Certificate of Achievement will be provided upon completion.
