About this event
NOTE: The price for the workshop has been reduced. Description: The bottle form seems to appear in every culture in the world, ie. India, China, the Americas, Egypt, the Near East, Japan, Korea, Africa, Tibet, all over Europe, and on and on and on for thousands of years. The form was used in so many ways including the most obvious which were gathering water from the well or river, fermenting wine or beer, transporting liquids for trade, and whatever else was necessary according to the times and the culture. Also the bottle seems to be one of the most difficult forms to make on the potter's wheel so we will discuss at length, the challenge of the technique, and the pure joy of making a beautiful bottle. This workshop is recommended for Intermediate/Advanced students. In 1973, Rick received an MFA in ceramics, from the University of Georgis. He was the founder and director of the ceramics department and Callanwolde Arts Center 1973-1980. His work is in international and national collections, and has written numerous ceramics articles for Clay Times and Ceramics Monthly. Currently, Rick is teaching clay classes and workshops throughout the South East.
