About this event
Instructor: Dr. Matt Caine is Director of Traditional Music at St. John’s Methodist Church, Aiken. Frequently in demand as a guest conductor, he is also a perennial presenter at national, regional, and state conferences of the American Choral Directors Association. Description: A musical masterwork that was hastily composed in just 24 days in 1741 and premiered in 1742 but continues to have chart-topping new recordings made and receives sold-out performances worldwide, some 285 years since its inception, can be described as nothing short of a masterpiece. Join us as we dissect George Frideric Handel’s beloved oratorio, Messiah, focusing this year on the choruses. Then, join us on Sunday, November 22, at 3:00 pm for a free live performance of nearly all the choruses from Handel’s Messiah, including the well-known “Hallelujah” chorus.
